On Interdependence, Creativity and Learning.

Not long ago, I began learning a new skill building on existing ones. As I looked for ways to create patterns, do something a little different, I noticed:

  • Folks teaching this skill treat anyone learning with kindness and respect
  • There is a tool supporting learning this skill that gives instant feedback
  • You can build on what others have created or learn from what they have made
  • Mistakes are treated as opportunities to learn
  • Collaboration is a conversation that allows for improvisation regardless of skill level within a pair or group
  • The contributions of folks from all walks of life are well-documented and valued
  • It takes deliberate practice too

This makes me think that interdependence is essential to creative endeavours and learning.
